Interior design in Erskine
Erskine's housing is largely from the 1970s onwards, with newer estates added since. The original houses often need bringing up to date throughout, and the newer ones usually need character adding to a plain developer finish.
Bringing a 1970s house up to date
In the original housing, the layout itself is often what dates the house: small separate rooms, a hatch between the kitchen and dining room, and doors in awkward places. Opening up where possible, then choosing flooring, doors and colours that carry through, makes the house feel much more modern.
Adding character to newer homes
In the newer estates, the rooms are a good shape but plain. Wall panelling in a bedroom, a slatted feature wall or media wall in the living room, and better lighting throughout give a new house some personality.
Planned with the work
Because our joiners and trades carry out the work, design decisions such as light positions, sockets and joinery details are made before anything is built, when they cost least to change.

Building a Media Wall With Lit Display Niches
A blank living room wall became a full-height media wall with eight lit niches, a recessed TV and an inset fire, with every cable buried before the plasterboard went on.
